The AI War Rages On

As of mid-February 2026, the AI competition among major players is intensifying, with OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), and Meta (Llama) leading the field, while Asian companies like DeepSeek, Kimi, and MiniMax are gaining ground. Notable recent developments include Anthropic running ads that mock OpenAI, and OpenAI hiring Pieter Steinberg, an Austrian engineer whose open-source AI personal assistant, Open Claw, went viral for its ability to autonomously handle virtually any computer task and has become the fastest-growing open-source project of all time — a strategic move that brought both talent and public attention to OpenAI. Meta appears to be falling behind, with little notable output in recent months, while the Chinese and Asian AI companies continue to impress by shipping high-quality, often fully open-source models at a rapid pace.

The Ai war 16.2.2026 The war is raging. The big players are fighting like crazy to win it. They are making all their moves. Some bold, some subtle. Some smart, some dumb. The Ai ecosystem is huge & crowded. The biggest player are. - OpenAi with ChatGPT - Anthropic with Claude - Google with Gemini - Facebook Meta with Llama There are some asian playing a bigger and bigger role in that war too: - DeepSeek - Kimi

- MiniMax Some of the latest notable moves was some ads by Anthropic, mocking OpenAi. The last one is the hiring of Pieter Steinberg by OpenAi. Pieter, an Austrian engineer, just went ultra viral with Open Claw, the Ai personal assistant - that actually works. Open Claw has changed & is changing the lives of many people. It can virtually do any computer task for you. It can learn & evolve. It can act autonomously & has been doing very impressive tasks. It's the fastest open source project of all time!

So OpenAI just hired Pieter & all the hype at the same time. Smart move, if you ask me. The one that is currently lagging behind is Meta. I havent heard many news from them since Months. They have not been "Shipping" much. My personal favorite? I love the mindset of Claude, & I am impressed by the Chinese & asian companies shipping crazy good AI, often (full) open source. Looking forward following closely this war. Exciting time to be Alive! ♡ Romain
